Seitan Limania: Where Cove and Cliff Converge in Chania's Coastal Paradise

Seitan Limania Beach is a stunning location in Chania that is known for its crystal-clear waters, hidden coves, and stunning cliffs. In this article, we will explore the history, geography, and attractions of Seitan Limania Beach.

name's origin

Seitan Limania Beach is located near Chania, on the northern coast of the Akrotiri peninsula. The beach is located in a quiet cove and is flanked by towering cliffs, making it a hidden gem on Crete. There are also other minor caverns in the region that are worth visiting.

The name Seitan is not Greek. It is of Turkish origin and has remained so since the occupation. It means devilish, devil or cursed, so the name’s meaning is devillish ports or diavolo-limana in Greek.

This designation is due to the danger of waves in the area, although nowadays someone would say that being reckless in such a place may be dangerous. Our advice is to always be cautious while having fun.

Seitan Limania Beach’s crystal-clear waters and secluded coves are two of its most prominent features. The beach is made up of several smaller coves, each with its own distinct personality. The water is so clean that you can see the vibrant fish swimming beneath it. The beaches are particularly well-known for their white sand, which contrasts nicely with the deep blue water.

It is surrounded by stunning cliffs, making it a popular location for photographers. The rugged cliffs provide a dramatic backdrop for the beach and surrounding area.

The neighboring caverns are another draw of Seitan Limania Beach. Visitors can explore the little caverns that are a short distance from the beach. The caves are ideal for daring travelers searching for something a little further off the beaten path.

Unusual lifeguards!

While you are lying down and sunbathing on the beach, you might hear some animal noises! Don’t be scared they are friendly! Many were lucky and encountered the wild cliff goats of Crete named Kri-Kri.

Kri-Kris roam free on the land, and they prefer the rocky terrain that Seitan Limania Beach provides. You can always carry a couple of carrots with you just in case you want a closer encounter with them.

We advise you to proceed with caution and at your own risk since these gravity defyers are wild animals and their reactions can’t be predicted.
