Additional information about the four coves on Agioi Apostoloi Beach:

Glaros Beach

Glaros beach is the biggest and most popular of the coves at Agioi Apostoloi Beach. It features a wide expanse of soft golden sand and offers plenty of space for sunbathing, beach games, and relaxation. At the same time, the shallow and calm waters make it an ideal spot for families with children to enjoy a safe and thrilling swim. The beach is well organized, with sun loungers and umbrellas available for rent, ensuring a comfortable beach experience. Moreover, it offers convenient amenities such as beach bars and tavernas, where visitors can grab refreshments or indulge in delicious local cuisine.

Iguana Beach

Iguana Beach, located next to Glaros Beach, is recognized for its unusual rock formations and shallow waves. It takes its name from a little islet off the coast that resembles the shape of an iguana. This picturesque cove has a more rugged and wild environment, which attracts individuals who value natural beauty and love exploring the rocky beach. Visitors can sunbathe on the smooth rocks, swim in the clear waters, or simply take in the stunning views of the surrounding environment. While Iguana Beach has fewer services, it provides a beautiful and serene atmosphere for a relaxing beach experience.

YIANNI’S BEACH PLACE

It’s not the official name of the cove, but the thing that makes it special and different from the others is Mikis Theodorakis Cave.

Located in a small cove between Iguana and Golden Bay beach, this cave served as a hiding place for the renowned Greek composer and political activist during the German occupation of Crete in World War II. Explore the cave and learn about its historical significance, enjoying the unique ambiance and the breathtaking coastal views it offers.

Golden Bay Beach

As you step onto the soft golden sand, you’ll immediately feel a sense of serenity wash over you. The calm and shallow waters make it an ideal spot for families with children, allowing little ones to splash and play safely.

Settle into a comfortable beach lounger and soak up the warm Cretan sun while the gentle sea breeze whispers through the nearby pine trees.

Golden Bay Beach offers more than just sun and sand—it’s a gateway to a world of natural wonders. Snorkeling enthusiasts will be delighted by the underwater beauty that awaits beneath the surface. Grab your snorkeling gear and explore the vibrant marine life that inhabits the clear waters. A good spot for snorkeling is at the end of the beach’s coastline.

Discover colorful fish, intricate coral formations, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of a playful sea turtle gliding by. The underwater world of Golden Bay Beach is truly a mesmerizing sight to behold.

Nature excursions and coastal walks

Agioi Apostoloi Beach offers enthralling coastal roads for leisurely walks or bike rides in addition to its lovely sandy shoreline. Take a stroll along the promenade that runs along the coast and enjoy the panoramic views of the sea and adjacent peninsulas.

On the little peninsula, from which Iguana Beach got its name, you get to see two little churches. The Agioi Apostoloi church and the Xenios Dias chapel. The path is lined with benches that invite you to sit, relax, and take in the scenery.

Of course, the GPS will propose the new national road to access Agioi Apostoloi (E90). It will take you a few minutes longer to reach the destination, but it is also a valid way.

By Bus:

Even though having a car in Crete is a big convenience, you might not get one. Don’t worry though, because you can reach Agioi Apostoloi by city bus also. There are two lines getting there: No. 15 and No. 21, and they make a few stops in the region. We advise you to search before hand for the stop that you need to be at your destination quicker.

Finally, you can get there by taxi too, and there are many in Chania as well as in Agioi Apostoloi for your return.
